OVERCOMING TEMPTATION

Alexander, a little boy, was trying to save all the money he could in order
to buy a baseball bat. But he had a hard struggle. One night when he was
saying his prayers, his mother heard him say fervently: "O Lord, please help
me save my money for a baseball bat. And, God, don't let the ice cream man
come down this street!"

Temptation often comes not at our strongest, but our weakest moments. When
we are at the limit of our patience, love, etc., we are tempted to be
un-Christian.

Listen to some good news today about temptation. It comes from Paul talking
to the believers in Corinth in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Paul says, "No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful;
He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are
tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it
(the temptation)."

Are you battling temptation today? Turn it over to God. You can't do it on
your own. You must ask for God's help. Psalm 50:15 says, "Call upon me in
the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me."

This is the most important thing in overcoming temptation. We cannot merely
use our willpower or courage. The temptation is stronger than we are, but
God is stronger than the temptation.

Will you be tempted? Yes you will always be tempted. Here is the question:
Will you resist the temptation by the power of God? Will you stand firm for
the Lord and say "no" to the strategy of the devil?

There are Two Lies Satan Wants Us to Believe
1. Just once won't hurt.
2. Now that you have ruined your life, you are beyond God's use, and might
as well enjoy sinning.

Because she gives the test first
and the lesson afterwards.
